Ouellet Canada, headquartered in l'Islet on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec, designs, manufactures, distributes, and markets standard, custom-made, and distinctive electric heating products.

A little history

Ouellet Canada had humble beginnings. It all started with an inventive and entrepreneurial Quebec native called Charles-Émile Ouellet. What started as a small backyard business in a makeshift workshop attached to his home was to quickly become so much more. By constantly pushing the limits of innovation and focusing on high-performance electric heating products, the company gradually conquered the Quebec, Canadian, United States and overseas markets.



Here are a few highlights that have marked the company's history.


2020 Britech is acquired.

1960

Charles-Emile Ouellet begins manufacturing residential hot-air

heating equipment in a workshop
next to his home in L’Islet.
 

1967

The company becomes incorporated.

1971

Brothers Raymond and 
Robert Beaulieu join 
Charles-Emile Ouellet 
as shareholders.


1976

The first electric baseboard
heater is produced.
 

1984

The first electric baseboard

with rounded corners launch.

1987

The company expands its sales
territory and starts exporting
to the United States.
 

1988

The one millionth electric
baseboard heater is produced.

1988

Ouellet becomes the first North American manufacturer to sell
white electric baseboards.
 

1991

Ouellet products are sold and distributed in all Canadian
provinces for the first time.

1992

Ouellet starts exporting 
its products internationally.

1995

The plant is extended to
45,000 square feet.
Today, it covers an area of
125,000 square feet.
 

1996

ISO 9003:1994 certification 
is obtained.

1998

Ouellet starts exporting its products
to China.

1999

Ouellet starts exporting its products
to Japan.

2001

Robert Beaulieu retires.

Raymond Beaulieu becomes
majority shareholder of
the company.
 


2004

Ouellet Canada Group Inc.
is formed.


2004

A floor-heating plant, 
Celsiair Inc., opens
in Quebec City.


Hazloc Heaters opens
in Calgary.
 


2005

Ouellet’s China factory starts assembling various Ouellet
products.


2009

Raymond Beaulieu’s three sons, Martin, Philippe and Louis,

become main shareholders

of Ouellet Canada Group Inc.
 


2010

Dettson Industries Inc. 
is acquired.


2012

Global Commander

is acquired.

2013

The ten millionth electric 
baseboard heater is 
produced.


2015

A new distribution centre
in Montmagny opens, with an
area of 45,000 square feet.

2015

Introduction of the ductless heat pumps.

2016

Ouellet Canada and Celsiair
merge.

Manufacturing of floor heating
systems moves to L’Islet.

2017

Ouellet Canada celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2018

Nortron furnaces are now available
at Ouellet Canada
.

2020

Distribution agreement with

Glen Dimplex Americas.
Ouellet Canada becomes the official distributor of Dimplex and Convectair heating products in the Canadian electrical distribution market.

2020

Britech is acquired.

2021

Innovair is acquired.

2021

Delta-Therm is acquired.
